Chainsaws | Haunted How To

Client:

Lowe's

About:

Every Halloween, Lowe's was getting beat by Home Depot and their viral 12-foot-tall skeleton. So instead of fighting decorations with decorations, we went to the power tool aisle and pulled out something that's actually scary: the chainsaw. A short horror film, shot and edited in two weeks, introduced the terrifying tool and helped Halloween fans turn it into the perfect costume piece.

We shot with digital, handheld camcorders — the Canon XL-1 and the FLIP Mini HD — to recreate the style of classic found-footage horror movies. So that blue time-code scene wasn't done in post. It's the real thing. Shout out our DP, Mario Contini.
